.SHORT TERM & LONG TERM...
(This Evening through next Saturday)
Issued at 223 PM EDT Sun Jun 7 2026
A weak shortwave will lift northward over the mid-South and mid-
Mississippi Valley, taking deep moisture with it. Most of this will
go up and around our region through Monday, but we`ll have enough
moisture and lift (combined with the sea breeze) for some widely
scattered showers and storms on Monday. With the lower rain
coverage, expect highs to be in the low to mid 90s across the region
with heat index values in the mid 90s to near 100. Lows tonight and
Monday night will be in the low to mid 70s.
The shortwave skirts across the Ohio Valley Tuesday, with another
chance for scattered showers and storms. The best chance Tuesday
will be over our Georgia counties, closer to the shortwave. As a
result, highs will only reach the mid 80s across south Georgia with
upper 80s to low 90s elsewhere.
Wednesday will likely be the driest day with ridging on top of the
region, and the heat will return with highs in the low to mid 90s.
Moisture increases late in the week into next weekend, which will
bring better chances for afternoon showers and storms. Temperatures
will also slowly slide back down to near normal, but it will be
quite humid as well. This means heat index values will climb into
the 100-107 range by next weekend.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 130 PM EDT Sun Jun 7 2026
VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF period. Only aviation
concerns/hazards could be brief showers across DHN this afternoon
and low probability for MVFR/IFR cigs/vis caused by fog at
ECP/DHN early Monday morning around sunrise. Confidence and
probabilities were too low to warrant mention of fog/ceiling
restrictions in the TAF.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 223 PM EDT Sun Jun 7 2026
Generally gentle to moderate east to southeast flow continues for
the next several days, with influence from the sea breeze near the
coast each day. Outside of a few showers and storms, weather over
the marine area is fairly dry through the week. Seas will remain
around 1-2 feet for much of the upcoming week, but will build late
in the week as longer period swells arrive from the southern Gulf.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 223 PM EDT Sun Jun 7 2026
Isolated to scattered showers and storms remain possible over the
next few days. Transport winds will primarily be out of the east to
southeast around 5-10 mph over the next few days, turning more
onshore closer to the coast as the sea breeze moves inland.
Dispersions each afternoon will be fair to good each day.
&&
.HYDROLOGY...
Issued at 223 PM EDT Sun Jun 7 2026
Most likely rainfall totals through next weekend are around a half
inch to an inch , though localized higher amounts of an inch or two
are possible in heavier storms. This should not result in widespread
flood concerns, both in terms of flash flooding and river flooding.
Severe to exceptional drought continues for areas generally east of
the Apalachicola and Flint Rivers as these areas missed out on the
most beneficial recent rains and rivers are struggling to recover.
